Tao of Tea - Fair Trade Certified Teas
The concern for Fair Trade is not common among 'Direct' sourcing tea merchants like The Tao of Tea. When purchasing direct from the tea gardens and farmers, tea merchants such as ourselves are already paying much higher prices (if not the highest) for the quality of well made specialty teas. The concern of Fair Trade is more just in the case of tea companies that purchase tea through auctions at the various tea centers. In such cases, purchase volumes drive down prices and could negatively affect people's lives. In 2001, we still chose to join the Fair Trade partnership between tea pickers, tea traders and tea drinkers. It was our attempt to encourage the larger, more volumous tea buyers to evolve along this path.

Darjeeling Muscatel Introduction: This exceptional Darjeeling black tea represents a world of difference. Made at a bio-dynamic tea estate, promoting sustainable farming methods and care for the environment. The term 'muscatel' refers to the sweet, flowery and thirst quenching characteristic of this tea. Rose Melange Organic Introduction: Assam is the largest tea producing region in the world, and home to some of the best black teas from India. It lies 120 miles east of Darjeeling (a high elevation tea area), and borders with China, Burma, and Bangladesh. Made at our partner tea estate, this is a malty, full-bodied black tea blended with fragrant red rose petals. Rich, sweet aftertaste, smooth honey texture. Ingredients: Organic Black Tea Leaves, Red Rose Petals Tin of 100 gr.
Green Darjeeling Bergamote Introduction: Bergamot is a Turkish name given to a pear shaped fruit, 'Citrus Bergamia', popularily used in Earl Grey tea. Traditionally, Bergamot has been blended with black tea. The Darjeeling Bergamot is a blend of light, crisp, muscatel green tea and the essence of Bergamot. Very aromatic, clear and smooth. Refreshing as an iced tea. Ingredients: Organic Black tea Leaves, Natural Bergamot Essence Tin of 100 gr.
Mandarin Green Introduction: Made exclusively for us, this exceptional Green Darjeeling is comprised of only the top leaves of the tea plant. After the leaves are carefully plucked, they are lightly baked at a low temperature to preserve their rich anti-oxidant properties. Blended with refreshing mandarin orange essence. Ingredients: Organic Green Tea Leaves, Organic Natural Orange Essence Tin of 28 gr.
Malty Assam Black tea Introduction: The region of Assam is the largest tea producing region in the world and home to some of the best black teas from India. It lies 120 miles East of Darjeeling (a high elevation tea growing area), and borders with China, Burma, and Bangladesh. The distinct tea varietal growing in Assam is the 'Camellia Assamica', a relatively larger leaf leaf tea plant. Rich, malty brew with a slight caramel sweetness.
